Lay Servant Ministries Starts Endowment Fund at the Foundation

July 1, 2021

An endowment has been established at the Nebraska United Methodist Foundation to perpetuate funds for Laity Leadership Development Scholarships beyond the initial grant supported project. Lay persons do not have a continuing education budget so without adequate financial support, individuals may not be able to reach their full potential as disciples of Jesus.

The initial goal for the endowment is $100,000. This would allow an offering of scholarships in the amount of $500 for at least 20 lay persons per year seeking advanced training.

To reach the $100,000 goal, Lay Servant Ministries is looking for 100 people out of the 300,000 Methodists in the Great Plains Conference to pledge $200/year for five years.

The endowment will be managed by the Nebraska United Methodist Foundation.  Contributions to the endowment fund can be made through an online payment here or by mailing a check directly to the Foundation.  More information can be found at this website: https://www.greatplainsumc.org/lsm/layleadership
